Scouting in Somerset proudly presents the 2020 Virtual Camp!

Welcome to Somerset’s first ever County Virtual Camp. We may have to camp at home on this occasion….. but at least we can all do it together!

Everyone is welcome to participate – there are no age or geographical restrictions. You just have to follow government guidelines by staying at home and staying safe, whilst joining in.

First of all – go and pitch a tent in your garden, build a den out of blankets or boxes, make a shelter, or (if you are feeling brave) put up your hammock!  Now you are all set and can start to enjoy the activities on offer in our SEVEN ZONES.

Don’t forget to join the OPENING CEREMONY on Facebook Live www.facebook.com/SomersetScouts/ at 12 noon on Saturday 9th May.

There are over 40 activities available for you – all of them are designed to be possible to do at home, and there is something for every age group.

Just click on the links below to take you to each of the Zones, where you will be able to choose your next activity. Each activity film is hosted on our YouTube channel (Somerset Scouts Virtual Camp 2020) and you can access all the videos there too.

We look forward to seeing your photos and comments on www.facebook.com/SomersetScouts/  or by email to scoutingathome@somersetscouts.org.uk

If you encounter any IT issues with the films or website links during the day, please drop us a quick email, so that we can fix things as soon as possible for you.

Tonight’s Facebook Live campfire will be hosted at 8pm by the infamous Mr Rob ‘Smiler’ Cash.

After a busy day and a night under canvas, you may like to visit the ADVENTURE ZONE for a great expedition / camp breakfast recipe, before joining us for the Facebook Live closing ceremony at 11am on Sunday.

Finally, I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to all those amazing volunteers who have produced programme ideas for this camp, to Jess for the briliant logo, to our Media Manager Rob and to Ruth – without whom none of this would be possible.

Have a great camp.  Enjoy yourselves…. and (most importantly) stay safe, Somerset!
