SomerTREK (Summer International 2027)

We know how much our Somerset volunteers get out of the international experience abroad, whether that is a World Scout Jamboree or an alternative trip. We have decided to put on an alternative trip for Somerset Scouters (adults and youth), mirroring the same timeline as the World Scout Jamboree and still giving a unique international trip with that jamboree experience. As part of the application process, we will ask you if you would like to apply for the WSJ (only), the Somertrek (only) or if you are not successful for the WSJ application, if you would be willing to a participant attending the Somerset Alternative trip – our SomerTrek 2027 international experience (so Both).

For some young people, the more relaxed but still adventurous option of getting abroad, seeing Europe, experiencing international scouting on a smaller scale but also getting immersed in the natural beauty of Switzerland (and other locations to be confirmed) could be more up your street.

The trip will include 1 week in Kandersteg International Scout Centre between (7^th – 14^th August) – coach of 57, large kitchen & 57 beds in old chalet. The trip could be two weeks (week prior or after) and could include expanding the trip to additional countries, but I will leave this to the creativity and decision making of the leadership team once confirmed.

We know it will be a road-trip, we know it will involve Kandersteg (Switzerland) but the team behind the scenes are working hard to identify further locations, costs and activities – hopefully for the roadshows so we can provide a bit more information.

Either way, we know it will be an exciting trip abroad led by an experienced team of Somerset volunteers. To find out more, come along to the WSJ roadshows on:
