The Sea

The sea is dangerous – do check locally for suitable times and places for bathing. The coast between Minehead and Hurlestone Point must be avoided because of loose rocks on the cliff faces and treacherous currents in the sea.

Exmoor Adventures

Water Activities (including fishing)
Available at Wimbleball Lake (Grid Ref SS965306). The Outdoor + Active Centre is open for tuition in various watersports activities including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing. Visitors can also launch their own craft or hire from the centre.

Wimbleball is also a premier trout fishery offering angling from the banks and boats. There are often tuition days for beginners and improvers, and further details are posted on our fishing pages. Permits are available on site and boats can be booked in advance. https://www.swlakestrust.org.uk/

West Somerset Railway
Steam trains on the old Great Western line from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead. They can offer station tours, museum tours and talks and behind the scenes visits to the engine sheds.
