Developing our next strategy

Our current strategic plan, “Skills for Life”, started in 2018 and will conclude in December 2025. The strategy was originally planned to end in 2023, but it was extended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2024, the UK Board of Trustees established a sub-committee called the Strategy Working Group (SWG) to oversee the development of our next strategy. The Board has agreed that our next strategy will last for 9 years (running from 2026 – 2034), and be divided into three, three-year plans.

In addition, the UK Board of Trustees has outlined a number of key principles that need to be incorporated in this new strategy, they are

  • Achievable, ambitious and inspiring
  • Evolutionary not revolutionary
  • Bold in the ambition to put diverse voices at front and centre
  • Outward facing and agile
  • Learning from our current strategy period
