Using WhatsApp for Virtual Meetings

Who can use this?

This can be used by all sections. Beavers and Cubs may need parent assistance…

How do you do it?

Download the WhatsApp application onto your desktop computer. You can find it here.

If you don’t have a computer, you can download it on iphone or android.

Once you load up WhatsApp on your screen. Select the + sign to start a new conversation.

Then select “New Group”

You will need to have your young people (or their parents) saved as a contact in your phone. Add them from the list of contacts.

Once you’ve got everyone you want in the group, click on the big green button at the bottom.

Give your group a name and logo. Something to differentiate it from other chats.

Then start chatting!

Every time you send something, you’ll get ticks on the end of your comment.

  • One grey tick means that its been sent (and is being processed)
  • Two grey ticks means that its been processed and is available to be seen
  • When the ticks go blue, it means that the message has been read by someone in the group.

And you’re good to go… happy virtual scouting!
