Somerset teams success in Ten Tor

Date: 12th May 2019 Author: Rob Cash

Over the weekend 11th / 12th May, 42 Explorer Scouts from Somerset County completed the gruelling Ten Tors Challenge, navigating routes of 35, 45 & 55 miles, over the Northern half of Dartmoor, visiting ten nominated Tor check points in under two days. The teams were completely self-sufficient, carrying all that they needed to complete their route and stay out overnight safely.  Our teams were supported by amazing adult volunteers from East Somerset and Blackdown districts, who spent many months training the young people for this epic adventure, which they will remember for the rest of their lives. Five of our seven teams completed the course, with some fantastic times being achieved. Congratulations to all who entered – this challenge is not for the faint hearted.
