Clive Welch – Gone Home

Date: 17th Sep 2018 Author: Scout Websites

There was standing room only at Taunton Crematorium, as hundreds of family members, friends and Scouting colleagues gathered on 11th September 2018, to celebrate the life of Cub Scout Leader, Clive Welch, who has recently ‘gone home’.

Clive’s remarkable life included 30 years of service to Scouting, which were remembered in a very special service of thanksgiving. He was given full Scouting honours for his final journey. Members of Clive’s groups were joined by leaders from Blackdown district and Somerset County to escort Clive to the chapel and form a guard of honour for his arrival.  A wonderful ‘cake buffet’was laid on at Huish Woods campsite afterwards.

Clive’s passing has been marked by Somerset County Scouts with a special stone, which is to be laid in the ‘Promise Path’ at Gilwell Park (HQ of the UK Scout Association).

There was little that Clive didn’t know about Cub Scouts – he touched and influenced the lives of many youth and adult members, and will be much missed.
